Sarnia Police Able to Identify Two Suspects for Subdivision Thefts

On the morning of September 8, 2019, a number of break and enters were reported to sheds in the Blackwell Glen subdivision located off of Blackwell Side Road to the south of London Line. The break and enters occurred sometime over the evening hours of September 7 to the early morning hours of September 8, 2019.

According to reports various items were taken ranging from bikes, a bow and arrow set, a riding lawn mower, and other items. A suspect has been identified and some of the property has been recovered.

We are asking for anyone who had property stolen from the Blackwell Glen subdivision during the previously mentioned time period, even if it was returned to you, to contact Detective Jeff Rovers at 519-344-8861, extension 6159.

On September 10, 2019, at approximately 4:25 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service were again dispatched to the Blackwell Glen subdivision after receiving a call from a resident in the area having seen a male on his home security system trying to enter a motor vehicle in the driveway. The complainant immediately contacted the police who attended the area and located the suspect on the front lawn of an address.

The suspect was arrested for trespassing and a search of the person was conducted. This suspect is not the same person from the break and enters to the sheds.

Officers recovered numerous items in the backpack including documentation that belonged to a resident in the subdivision.

A 45 year old male from Sarnia has been arrested in relation to the thefts from the motor vehicles and charged with:

  1. Two counts of theft under $5000
  2. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  3. Trespass by night
  4. Possession of break and enter tools

If anyone has any information in relation to the theft from the vehicles or had property taken that was not reported as stolen they are please asked to call Detective Jeff Rovers at 519-344-8861, extension 6159.
