On August 30, 2019, at approximately 3:40 am, officers from the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched regarding a motor vehicle that had entered the west ditch on Brigden Road near London Line. The vehicle had also over turned.
Upon arrival police noted that two of the passengers were already out of the vehicle while another passenger and the driver were extracted from the vehicle by the Sarnia Fire Department.
The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries while the passengers did not require any further medical attention.
Police were present with the driver at the hospital and were able to form grounds to charge him with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. A qualified breath tech from the Sarnia Police Service attended the hospital and conducted a breath test with the Intoxilyzer 8000c. It was determined that the driver was over the legal limit.
20 year old Gavin Soldier White-Eye of the Sarnia area was charged with operate motor vehicle while impaired and impaired operation with blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. The accused was discharged from hospital that same day.
On August 31, 2019, Sarnia Police responded to a hit and run complaint where a vehicle had side swiped another vehicle in the area of Rosedale Avenue and Indian Road. The complaint followed the suspect vehicle to a residence where police attended.
As the officer investigated the matter further grounds were formed to arrest the driver of the suspect vehicle for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused was transported back to the station were attempts were made to conduct breath tests but with no success.
The accused in this matter, William Mark Long, 56 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
