61 Year Old Man Assaulted

On August 26, 2019, at approximately 12:40 am, officers from the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to the band shelter area parking lot located at the north end of Canatara Park.

Lambton Paramedics attended to treat a 61 year old male for injuries that he had sustained. The victim was transported to hospital for further medical attention for his non-life-threatening injuries.

As the investigation continued it was determined that the victim was walking through the parking lot when he was confronted by several males that were yelling derogatory words at him. A verbal exchange of words escalated to the point where the victim was attacked by several suspects who pushed him to the ground and then kicked and punched him. The suspects then left the area and left the victim who was unconscious.

The victim did not know the suspects and remains in hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

On August 29, 2019, a suspect was arrested and taken in custody. A 16 year old male, from Sarnia, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and was held for a bail hearing.
