On May 30, 2019, the Sarnia Police Service commenced a joint investigation with the Sarnia Lambton Children’s Aid Society into an alleged assault of a child at the Jerry McCaw Family Centre. The CAS was initially notified of the allegation by staff at the JMFC.
On June 10, 2019, Lisa Teft, 40 years of age, of Sarnia was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon on a two and a half year old child in the care of the JMFC. At the time of the offence, Teft was an Early Childhood Educator at the centre.
As result of the incident the child victim sustained a minor injury which did not require medical attention.
Teft will appear in court in July.
