Search Warrant Executed For Illegal Cannabis Dispensary

On June 6, 2019, the Sarnia Police Service executed search warrants under the Cannabis Act, along with the members of the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The search warrants allowed police to search an illegal dispensary in the 1800 block of St Clair Parkway in the City of Sarnia as well as a residence in the 600 block of Secretariate Drive in Corunna.

Officers executed the warrants simultaneously at approximately 12:45 pm on June 6, 2019 and were able to arrest three males involved with the investigation at the time.

As a result of both the illegal dispensary and the residence in Corunna a large amount of both currency and cannabis products were located. As the processing of evidence continues it is believed at this time that over $130,000 dollars of cannabis related products have been seized, as well, it is believed that well over $150,000 in currency has also been seized.

Also located during the search were cans of bear spray (pepper spray) and a taser.

The three males arrested on June 6, 2019 were each charged with one count of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling. The three men that were charged are as follows:

  1. Christopher Lagrone, 37 years of age, of Windsor
  2. Marc Joseph Henderson, 27 years of age, of Sarnia
  3. Jeremy Douglas Carey, 34 years of age, of Sarnia.

Kyle Frank Mansfield, 36 years of age, of Petrolia, faces two counts of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. Mansfield had turned himself in June 7, 2019.

The fifth accused, Melissa Portelance, 40 years of age, of Corunna, faces two counts of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. Portelance turned herself in on June 11, 2019.

Currently there are outstanding warrants for the arrest of:

  1. Steven Robert Caza, 37 years of age, of Windsor, for possessing Cannabis for the purpose of selling, and for possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
  2. Derek William Donkers, 34 years of age, of Sarnia, for possessing Cannabis for the purpose of selling, the sale of cannabis to an individual 18 years of age or older, and for two counts of fail to comply with conditions of undertaking given by officer in charge.

The Sarnia Police Service will continue to work with Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team as part of the ongoing joint effort to close all illegal dispensaries.
