On April 9, 2019, at approximately 1:25 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit were conducting community patrol in the area of Maxwell Street and Napier when they observed an individual known to them. The suspect was observed to be with another person that he was not to have any form of contact with.
Once officers confirmed that conditions were being breached, they attempted to arrest the accused by placing handcuffs on him. During the process the accused pulled away and began to flee from police. The foot chase took officers through several backyards, over a number of fences until they were able catch up to him. At this point a brief struggle ensued as the accused resisted arrest.
Officers were finally able to gain control of the male and place him into handcuffs.
The 25 year male, from Sarnia, remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing later today. He faces one count for failing to comply with recognizance and one count of resisting a Peace Officer.
