On July 13, 2013 around 1:40 AM, an officer observed a male staggering down Christina Street North near Lochiel Street. The 51 year old man identified himself for the officer and gave his address. The officer transported the man to that location, however, the man indicated he did not live there and did not know where he lived. He was arrested and taken to police headquarters to sober up. Before he was put in a cell, police located an open bottle of whiskey tucked in the man’s sock. It was seized. He was issued to Provincial Offence Notices and then released a few hours later.
On July 14 around 2:40 AM, an officer on patrol was southbound on Murphy Road, near Rosedale Avenue when he passed a northbound motor vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer turned to follow the car but the suspect car continued to travel at a very high rate of speed. The officer finally caught up to it just north of Errol Road. The officer noted the vehicle to cross over the center line on two occasions. There were three occupants in the car. The officer spoke to the 39 year old male driver. He smelled of alcohol. He was asked to provide a breath sample into a road side screening device. He blew a fail. He was taken to police headquarters where the breath tests conducted there showed he was over 3 times the legal limit. He faces a charge of drive with over 80 MG.
On July 14, around 4:40 AM, police were sent to Pearl Street to look for a suspicious person. They arrived a found a 21 year old Petrolia man staggering around. He smelled of alcohol and said he was listening to his iPod, but he did not have an iPod on him! He said he had never been in trouble with the law. A check was done and it was discovered he was under house arrest with a no alcohol condition. He was arrested. He was held for a bail hearing.
