On December 12, 2018, at approximately 1:20 am, Sarnia Police officers were dispatched to an address in the 2000 block of Lanark Crescent. Upon arrival officers met with the victims in this matter.
From information received two male suspects forced their way into the residence and then the bedroom where the male victim was lying in bed. One of the suspects tasered the 43 year old victim in the chest as he lay in bed while the second man struck the victim with a baseball bat across the legs.
The suspects stole the victim’s lap top and left the residence. Fortunately the female that was present was not injured but very upset from the ordeal. The 43 year old male victim was taken to hospital, treated, but did not suffer any significant injuries.
As the investigation continued the officers were able to determine who the two suspects were in this matter.
The first accused is a Maston Mwamanembo Musokotwane, 45 years of age, who now faces charges for:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Break and enter into a dwelling house with the intent to commit an indictable offence
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- 2 counts of robbery with a weapon
The second accused is an Adam Robert Smits. 31 years of age, who faces charges for:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Break and enter into a dwelling house with the intent to commit an indictable offence
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- 2 counts of robbery with a weapon
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
Both accused have since been arrested without incident. Musokotwane was released from the Sarnia Police Station on an Officer In-charge Promise to Appear while Smits was held for a bail hearing.
