A 42 year old female from Sarnia has been charged with Impaired Driving.
On December 9th, 2018, at approximately 11:15 p.m., the driver in this case was allegedly observed striking the median at Michigan Avenue and Murphy Road resulting in the front passenger tire deflating and her vehicle facing the wrong way against traffic. The driver continued westbound on Michigan Avenue, striking the curb and swerving toward oncoming traffic lanes. During this time, she was being followed by another driver who witnessed the event and notified police. The vehicle made its way to a dead end on Sweden Street where the driver made a multi-point turn and headed back in the opposite direction. The vehicle was eventually stopped by police in the area of Kim Street and Denmark Street.
The driver displayed physical signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Driving. The driver was then transported to the Sarnia Police Service where she provided additional breath tests registering nearly 2.5 times the legal limit. At the time of this incident, there were two children in the vehicle ages 10 and 7 that were subsequently left in safe care with family friends.
As a result, Sarah Cusden was also charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood. She was later released on a Promise to Appear.
