Recently the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch entered into an investigation regarding brass memorial plaques that had been pried off their concrete base from the Victorian Order of Nurses Memorial located at Centennial Park. The Memorial is located along the Bays shoreline just to the south of the band shelter by a small pond.
It is believed that upwards of 18 plaques have been stolen that have the names of loved ones engraved on them. The value is well into the thousands of dollars.
It is uncertain when the plaques were stolen but they were first noticed missing on November 18, 2018 at approximately 5:00 pm with further plaques missing on November 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
The Sarnia Police Service is reaching out for the public’s assistance to bring the individual or individuals responsible for this crime to justice.
