As reported yesterday afternoon and evening, the Sarnia Police Service had received information that a suspect wanted for a robbery on July 19, 2018 had been seen in the area of Michigan Avenue and Colborne Road in the City of Sarnia. Both uniformed and plain clothes officers descended on the area in an attempt to locate and arrest the accused.
At approximately 12:00 pm surveillance was established in the area and after a brief period of time the suspect came out of a residence and got into a white Chevrolet pickup truck. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however the vehicle fled the area failing to stop for the police. The truck was located a short time later and was found to be abandoned in the Beach Lane and Colborne Road area.
Officers began their search of the area with the assistance of the OPP K-9 Unit. After a lengthy search and thanks to the OPP K-9 Unit Kevin Simpson, 32 years of age, was located and arrested at approximately 5:50 pm.
Simpson is currently in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
The Sarnia Police Service would like to thank the public for both their patience and assistance in locating this wanted person. Another great example of how a community can work together to achieve a common goal.
