On September 4, 2018, at approximately 1:00 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service General Patrol responded to a Hydo One power station compound located off Conestoga Drive in the City of Sarnia. Information received via a security monitoring company was that the perimeter fence was breached and that individuals were attempting to steal wiring from the compound.
Once officers arrived on site they were able to locate two suspects hiding in the compound and arrested them without incident. The suspects were also found to be in possessions of tools to assist in the break in and theft.
Bradley Douglas Kelly, 18 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with possession of break and enter instruments, break and enter, breach of probation, and failing to comply with a sentence.
Alexander Albert Milam, 23 years of age, also of Sarnia, was charged with break and enter and possession of break and enter instruments.
Both individuals were held for a bail hearing this morning.
Breaking into a high voltage compound, such as this, comes with many consequences which include the risk of affecting the power supply to the area and the most extreme one, loss of life.
