Suspect Resists Arrest

On August 24, 2018, at approximately 5:00 am, a Sarnia Police officer on general patrol, observed a male riding his bike southbound on Russell Street with no lights on his bike.

The officer stopped the cyclist to speak to him regarding the lack of lights. The officer was able to determine that the cyclist was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft of a motor vehicle.

Once the officer attempted to arrest the suspect he began to resist the officer. During the altercation the two fell to the ground damaging the officer’s hand cuffs and rendering them useless. Fortunately for the officer other officers attended to assist in the suspect’s apprehension. Suspect was then searched and the officer was able to locate the drug crystal methamphetamine.

The accused, Colin Michael McNaulty, 49 years of age, of Sarnia, faces charges for resist a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of a motor vehicle.
