Broadcast time: 10:05 am

Date: July 3, 2018

On June 16, 2018, the Sarnia Police Service took a report of a bicycle that was stolen from a residence in the area of Michigan Avenue and the Rapids Parkway. The bicycle was valued at approximately $8000. Unfortunately the bicycle was stolen from the complaints garage that was left open.

On June 30, 2018, at approximately 5:30 am, an officer on general patrol came across an individual in the area of Lydia Street walking with a bicycle that matched the description of the bicycle that had been reported earlier that month. The officer was able to confirm that it was indeed the bicycle that was stolen and arrested the accused Joshua Allen Spero, 32 years of age, for possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, and breach of probation.

Because of the police report that was made by the complainant and the detailed description reported, the bicycle was returned to its rightful owner.

We would just like to remind people to lock their garage doors and their bicycles up when they are left unattended. A detailed description of the bicycle with photos, markings, and serial numbers helps a great deal when reporting to the police.
