On May 16, 2018, shortly after 8:30 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service Community Response Division responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Mike Weir Drive and Lakeshore Road in Brights Grove regarding a two vehicle collision.
As officers investigated the incident they formed reasonable grounds to determine that the 34 year old female driver of one of the vehicles, involved in the collision, was under the influence of alcohol to the extent she was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused was transported back to the station where she supplied samples of breath into the Intoxilyzer Instrument. Once testing was completed it was determined that the suspect was over 4 times the legal limit.
Due to the extremely high levels of alcohol in her system she was then transported to hospital to ensure that she did not suffer alcohol poisoning.
The 34 year old female was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood and for failing to share roadway under the Highway Traffic Act.
Fortunately no one suffered any significant injuries during the collision.
