Yesterday afternoon around 4 PM, a Sarnia Police Traffic officer was operating a mobile radar unit when he spotted and registered a car doing 105 KPH in a 50 KPH zone, on Murphy Road, between London Road and Wellington Street. The 18 year old male driver from Sarnia was in his mother’s car. The car was towed; he was issued a summons and will go to court in July after being charged for Stunt Driving. The car will be impounded for seven days.
Last night around 8 PM, a 57 year old Sarnia man was arrested by Sarnia Police on Copeland Road after he was stopped for suspicion of impaired driving. He provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and blew a “Fail”. He was taken to police headquarters where he registered breath samples over two times the legal limit. He was released later and will appear in court in July.
Around 9:20 AM, the Vice Branch executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Park Avenue in Sarnia. Five people were found inside; two people were released unconditionally but a 27 year old man and a 46 year old man along with a 34 year old female, all from Sarnia were held for investigation purposes. A syringe filled with liquid methamphetamine and 1.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine was seized. This carries a street value of about $365.00. All three were brought to police headquarters. The 46 year old man was held for bail as he was on a Recognizance of Bail. He will face three charges for breaching that recognizance.
The other two parties were later released on a Promise to Appear, charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. A 24 year old Leamington man showed up at the home during the police presence. There was an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was held for a bail hearing.
