On Monday, April 2, 2018, at approximately 12:30 pm Sarnia Police attended the intersection of East Street and Exmouth Street, in the City of Sarnia, regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.
According to witnesses they observed a cyclist eastbound on the north sidewalk of Exmouth Street proceed through the intersection at East Street on a green light. A small silver car was exiting the Northgate Plaza and stopped on East Street facing the southbound lights. The vehicle then proceeded to move from the stop position to turn right onto Exmouth Street and then made contact with the eastbound cyclist.
The cyclist was knocked off his bicycle, landing on the ground. The driver was observed to stop and check out the wellbeing of the cyclist and then returned to his vehicle and continued westbound on Exmouth Street.
The 14 year old cyclist was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.
At this time members of the Sarnia Police Service Traffic Unit would like to speak to any other witnesses to this collision and the driver of the motor vehicle involved. If anyone has any information they are please asked to contact Constable James Maginn at 519-344-8861 (extension 6152).
