Date: March 27, 2018 |
On Monday, March 26, 2018, between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Bluewater Power was conducting work in the area of Exmouth Street and Murphy Road. Signs were posted to re-route traffic as well as an officer being present in a marked cruiser with the emergency lights to ensure traffic was moving accordingly and ensure the workers’ safety.
During that 12 hour stretch the officer issued 14 Provincial Offence Notices (tickets) in that one location for “Proceeding Contrary to Sign at the Intersection”. These would have been vehicles that did not follow the directions indicated by the posted signs.
It is unfortunate that these tickets need to be issued but the truth of the matter is that drivers need to pay attention to the signs that are set up in a construction area. They are there to ensure the safety of the workers. Even though there may be very good reasons why one may need to take a specific route we ask that you obey the signs and please pay close attention to what they ask you to do.
