On May 22, 2013 just after 4 PM, the Sarnia Police were assisting a social services agency in the 900 block of Confederation Street. They entered the residence attempting to locate a 26 year old woman when they observed marihuana and other drug paraphernalia. In total, 11 grams of marihuana was seized. The woman was later located, arrested and released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of July 15 when she will speak to a charge of Possession of Marihuana.
On May 27, 2013, around 4:45 PM, Sarnia Police were investigating a hit and run collision that had occurred near the area of London Line and Blackwell Side Road. An off duty Sarnia Police officer was the victim of the hit and run. The officer followed the suspects until other officers arrived. A vehicle was stopped on Mandaumin Road, north of London Line. The 23 year old female driver was arrested. A 33 year old male passenger was asked to step from the vehicle. He appeared incoherent and under the influence of an unknown substance. He had a pair of scissors in his pocket along with drug paraphernalia. Fentanyl patches were found in the car.
After further investigation, the man was properly identified and it was discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant as well as being on an Undertaking with a condition of not to possess drugs or paraphernalia. Because of his condition, he was taken by ambulance to hospital. The man is charged with Breach of Undertaking and Public Mischief. The woman driver is facing charges of Dangerous Driving, Failing to Remain, Possession of Fentanyl and Production of Fentanyl.
On May 29, around 5:25 PM, an officer stopped a vehicle on Exmouth Street. The 27 year old male driver was arrested as it was discovered his driver’s licence was under suspension for an unpaid fine. A search of the man revealed a gram of cocaine, two oxycontin tablets and a 11 mg capsule of hydromorphone. The man is being charged with Drive While Under Suspension and three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. The man was later released on an Appearance Notice. The man was also carrying over $1,500 in cash.
On May 29, the Sarnia Police Vice Branch executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Stuart Street just before midnight. A 45 year old Sarnia man was arrested inside. Items seized during this search were Fentanyl patches, some cut in pieces. The Fentanyl patches were in various sizes and contained in different baggies. Also seized were 33 tablets of Zopiclone. The Fentanyl has a street value of about $2,375.00. The man was held for bail and remains in custody awaiting a court date. He is charged with Production of Fentanyl, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
