On February 5, 2018, at approximately 1:45 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service Community Response Division responded to a break and enter that occurred in the 400 block of Nelson Street, in the City of Sarnia. The complaint’s security system had recorded a suspect rummaging through a vehicle in the complaint’s back yard. The suspect was then observed on video breaking the window to the man door of the garage. When the flood lights were activated the suspect fled the area. Fortunately officers were able to retrieve a description of the suspect from the video.
Officers then searched the area and located the male suspect who was placed under arrest for trespass by night, mischief over $5000, and for attempt break and enter. The suspect was then searched and an Ontario’s driver’s license belong to another person was located on his person. It was determined that the owner of the driver’s license had reported it and the wallet it was in stolen earlier this month. The suspect was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 and identity theft since he possessed another person’s identity information. He also faces one count of breach of probation.
The accused, Todd Wayne Campbell, 29 years of age, was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released from court to attend for his first appearance on March 6, 2017.
