Broadcast time: 8:45 am

Date: October 30, 2017

On October 28, 2017, at approximately 1:30 am, it is alleged that a 34 year old male, from Saskatchewan, drove his pickup truck into a ditch on Scott
Road. The vehicle entered the ditch and travelled for approximately 90 meters where it came to rest partially submerged in water.

The driver of the vehicle was able to exit the truck and called for a taxi. As the driver of the truck made his way to Highway 40 an officer on patrol observed the male party by the rail road tracks. The officer stopped to ensure all was in order and to see what was going on at which point the officer noted that the man was covered in mud and appeared to be intoxicated.

As the investigation continued the 34 year old man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and taken back to the police station to provide a suitable sample of breath into an Intoxilyzer Instrument. After the tests were conducted by a qualified Sarnia Police Service Breath Technician it was determined that the male was over the legal limit.

The suspect was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and for having more than 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood in his system.
