At approximately 3:50 pm, on September 11, 2017, the Sarnia Police Service received a call that a motor vehicle had struck a tree in the area of Russell Street and Devine Street and left the scene. Fortunately a witness was able to observe the incident and forwarded a description of the vehicle and its damage to the police who within several minutes located the vehicle in the area of London Road and MacKenzie Street North.
The driver of the vehicle was a 35 year old female from Sarnia and the officer also noted that the driver’s side airbag had been deployed. The female driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Officers also located what was believed to be the controlled substance Fentanyl in the vehicle.
The accused was then transported back to the station where she supplied samples of her breath into the Intoxilyzer instrument which confirmed that she was over the legal limit.
The 35 year old was charged with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and possession of a Schedule I substance. She was released on a Promise to Appear with her first court date set for October 11, 2017.
