In 2005, in an effort to reduce the chances of citizens becoming victims of identity theft, Constable Ken McLachlin started the annual event called “Shred Event.”
The 12th Annual Shred Event will be held on Saturday June 24th, 2017 in the Walmart parking lot on Quinn drive.
This annual event assists in reducing fraud and identity theft crimes in our community. The Sarnia Police Service and the Sarnia Police Association will be sponsoring this year’s event and would also like to thank our community partners; the Shred It Company and Walmart who help make this event possible.
This event is meant for private home owners and not for businesses. Please bring any sensitive documents that may divulge private information that could be used by criminals to commit frauds. Please do not bring newspapers and magazines as they can be recycled.
This event will be collecting donations for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. All money goes to our athletes as they pursue their dreams of making the Special Olympics and winning a medal.
