On March 23, 2017, the Sarnia Police Service was dispatched to a call regarding a break and enter to a residence in the 800 block of London Road in the City of Sarnia. During the break and enter the thief stole keys to the home owner’s vehicle and also stole the vehicle.
At approximately 9:45 pm on March 24, 2017, a member of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit was able to respond to information that the stolen vehicle was seen travelling westbound on London Road. The officer was able to locate the vehicle in the area of London Road and Mitton Street and followed it until it came to a stop in a parking lot located on George Street by Bayside Mall.
At this time the officer made contact with the suspect, who was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, and was able to arrest him without incident.
Currently William Clayton Stevens, 30 years of age, is in custody for the following charges:
- Driving while disqualified
- Theft of motor
- Possession of stolen property
- Breach of Probation
Stevens remains in custody awaiting his bail hearing.
