On March 11, 2017, at approximately 8:30 am, the Sarnia Police Service was dispatched to an address in the 700 block of Confederation Street, in the City of Sarnia, to investigate a break and enter that occurred sometime overnight to a local business. Upon speaking with the complainant it was determined that a pick-up truck had been stolen from the compound.
While this investigation was ongoing the Sarnia Police Service received a call from a local loan and cash advance establishment reporting suspicious activity with a client. When police arrived on scene the stolen pickup truck was noticed parked outside.
Inside, the suspicious male was attempting to cash two cheques. The cheques were from the same business that had reported the truck stolen earlier. The cheques had been made out to the suspect present at the cheque cashing establishment. The suspect was placed under arrest. When the suspect was searched the officer found a set of key that belonged to the pickup truck that had been stolen form Confederation Street business.
The officer that was investigating the break and enter on Confederation Street found a number of cheques, printed out on a printer with the name of the suspect on them.
The accused, Devan Worley, 26 years of age, from Sarnia, faces the following charges:
2 counts of uttering a forged document
3 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
1 count of break and enter
1 count of breach of probation
Worley has since been released from police custody and is awaiting his first court appearance.
