Members of the Sarnia Police Vice Unit have been involved in a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking. As a result of that investigation, four persons were arrested on March 2, 2017, at around 6 PM, for drug related offences.
During the arrest, a 33 year old male from Mississauga attempted to flee from police in his motor vehicle. He reversed his motor vehicle at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the road. The suspect motor vehicle collided with an unattended parked motor vehicle resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
As a result of the collision, police were able to affect the arrest of the driver and his passenger, a 45 year old female, also from Mississauga. The arrest was made on Pine Street.
A 46 year old Sarnia male and a 51 year old female also from Sarnia were arrested in relation to this investigation. They were located near the scene of the Pine Street arrest. The 51 year old female was later released unconditionally from police custody.
The three people who remained in police custody were charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
The male and female from the motor vehicle were further charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. The male from Mississauga faces additional charges of dangerous driving and possession of marihuana under thirty grams.
No injuries were sustained by police or civilians as a result of the incident.
Police located a substantial quantity of cocaine and many cell phones from the vehicle. Further, a quantity of cash was seized from the Sarnia male.
