On December 6, 2016, at approximately 6:45 pm, the Sarnia Police Service responded to a male party lying curled up at the intersection of Devine Street and Brock Street in the City of Sarnia.
As police began their interaction with the male they realized he was intoxicated and the individual became belligerent towards the officers. Out of concern for the man’s safety he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. As the officers began to handcuff the individual, a struggle ensued as the man attempted to resist being arrested.
Once the male was handcuffed he was then searched as he stood by the cruiser and continued to struggle. At one point the suspect leaned forward and struck the rear window of the cruiser with his head causing the glass to break. The accused continued to struggle and yell at the officers during the entire interaction.
The suspect did receive a small cut to his forehead for which he received medical attention for.
Finally, the accused was held at the Sarnia Police Station for a bail hearing this morning. The 38 year old man now faces charges for mischief over $5000.00, and resist Peace Officer.
