On November 8, 2016, at approximately 9:15 am, a member of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit was on patrol when he observed a man that the officer knew was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The suspect was on a bicycle and when the officer pulled up to the man and advised him he was under arrest the suspect began to flee. The individual disappeared from the officer’s sight for several minutes in the area of Stuart Street but fortunately the Constable’s persistence paid off and he was able locate the suspect. After a brief foot chase the accused was in custody without incident.
Upon being searched the officer located two syringes on the accused and several cards that were reported stolen.
Lewis Rising, 26 years of age, from Sarnia, faces charges for obstruct peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, and five counts of breach of probation.
He remains in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
