Broadcast time: 10:00 am

Date: August 29, 2016

On August 28, 2016, at approximately 1:30am, a member of the Sarnia Police Service was travelling south bound on Vidal Street (one way street) in the City of Sarnia. At this time the officer was confronted by a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Vidal Street, heading northbound directly at the officer’s vehicle.

The officer immediately activated the emergency lights on the cruiser which prompted the driver of the other vehicle to pull off from the road. The officer then approached the driver of the other car to determine what was going on. Immediately the officer could detect the strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver and could see other signs of the effects of consuming alcohol. The driver questioned why she was even being pulled over and was becoming verbally aggressive towards the officer. After some interaction with the driver and all the signs and symptoms exhibited by the driver the officer arrested the 31 year old female driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused was then transported back to the station where she was administered an Intoxilyzer test by a qualified breath technician. The results indicated that the accused was over two and a half times the legal limit.

She was subsequently held until she was sober and released on a Promise to Appear for the charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mg of alcohol per 100ml blood.
