On April 12, 2016, shortly before 3:45 pm, the Sarnia Police Service General Patrol Officers were dispatched to an address in the 200 block of Elgin Street in the City of Sarnia regarding an assault in progress. Upon arriving, the suspect had left the scene but the victim was still present. The accused had allegedly attempted to steal a cell from the victim and in the process began striking the victim and broke her phone. The victim knew who the accused was which was then relayed to the other officers on the road. The suspect was also known to have outstanding warrants for her arrest.
Shortly thereafter an officer located the 20 year old female suspect in the area of James Street and London Road. While attempting to arrest the suspect a struggle ensued with the officer but fortunately the 20 year old was ultimately handcuffed.
The accused is now in police custody facing numerous charges ranging from theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, resist peace officer, utter threats, breaches of probation and breaches of undertaking for yesterday’s incident. She is also facing numerous breaches of probation, breaches of undertaking and recognizance and failing to appear for court charges from the outstanding warrants.
She is to attend for a bail hearing later today.
