On Saturday April 6, 2013, around 10:15 AM, Sarnia Police were called to attend the 700 block of South Indian Road in regards to a man on a bike with a knife. Officers arrived and found a 46 year old Sarnia man on a bicycle in the parking lot of a business. He appeared incoherent. There was a large piece of wood attached to his bike with a knife sticking out the end. They could also see a silver handle protruding from a bag over his shoulder.
He was arrested and handcuffed. One of the items in his bag was a six inch stainless steel meat cleaver. A total of 9 weapons were taken off the accused. They included four other knives, a straight razor and a sock with a stainless steel ball in the end of it. This is commonly known as a blackjack, which is a prohibited item.
The man’s bike was also seized as evidence. He is facing charges of Carry Concealed Weapon x 2, Weapons Dangerous x 2, Possess Prohibited Weapon and Breach of Probation. He was held for bail.
