Sarnia Police would like to remind motorists that Lake Chipican Drive and the lots along Canatara Park Beach known as Extensions of Lake Chipican Drive are governed by the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and any inappropriate driving behavior will be dealt with accordingly. This applies all year round.
This morning, February 9, 2016, a Sarnia Police Traffic Unit Officer investigated an incident where an individual was taking advantage of the snow and doing “donuts” in the lot and driving up on the beach. The individual was subsequently charged with careless driving.
Please keep in mind that others use the park for daily walks and other activities as well as living in the area. We ask that individuals do not jeopardize lives and property for such reckless behavior. Another charge that could be laid is stunt driving which also involves 7 days of vehicle impoundment and license suspension. Upon conviction the person may face up to a $2000 fine.
