Date: November 22, 2015

The Chief of Sarnia Fire and Rescue Services has stated that the Kenwick Apartment building located at 180 George Street is not safe for residents to remain. Damage caused by a Sunday November 22, 2015 fire has caused damage that leaves the building unsafe for occupancy.

If you are a resident of the Kenwick Apartments we ask that you make alternative accommodations for approximately one week. If you are unable to make arrangements for accommodations, a Reception Centre is open at Lambton College. Transportation will be provided to the Reception Centre by Sarnia Transit beginning at 6:00 p.m. The buses will be making pickups of residents at the city hall parking lot.

Residents that are being moved to the Reception Center or alternate accommodations are advised to take necessary items for an indefinite period of time. Residents are reminded to take medications, identification and Health Cards, toiletries and changes of clothing for one week. Arrangements are being made to house resident’s pets with the Sarnia Humane Society. Pets are being processed for care in the parking lot of city hall directly across from the Kenwick building

If you are a resident of Kenwick and are making alternate accommodations or did so earlier today, please register your contact information (first and last name, contact numbers, current location and apartment number) by calling 211 or by visiting the Reception Centre at Lambton College.

If you are a resident of the Kenwick and have questions for your landlord, you are instructed to call Greg Fraser at 519-331-0507 (cell), 519-344-8829 ex 227, greg_fraser@srgroup.ca (email)
