The Sarnia Police investigated numerous break and enters and thefts over the weekend.
The Sarnia Police Service responded to ten break and enters and seventeen thefts between Friday at 5:00p.m.to Monday at 7:00a.m. In most cases entry was gained through unlocked residence and garage doors. In two cases entry into attached garages was made after the culprits found unlocked vehicles in the driveway with the garage door openers assessable. The majority of the thefts reported were from unlocked vehicles with loose change and valuables left inside.
The Police Service reminds the public to lock vehicles and to remove all valuables regardless of where you park. Secure all home windows and doors including garage doors. Please report suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.
On Saturday 22, August 2015 just after 2:00 a.m. officers responded to a break in on Stoney Creek Drive.The homeowner told the responding officer they had seen a Jeep in the area. While the investigation was taking place police received a report of a stolen Jeep involved in a collision in the area of Trudeau Drive. Officers located the Jeep on Waterworks Side Road, however the occupants had fled into surrounding farm fields.
On Saturday August 22, 2015 at about 3:00 a.m. Sarnia Police were able to arrest a 34 year old male while he was breaking in to a garage. The incident took place in the 100 block of Lincoln Park Ave and was reported by a neighbor. The man is being held for a bail hearing and faces charges including break and enter, possession of break and enter tools, trespass at night and breach of probation.
