Sarnia Police Service will be participating in a Global Police Tweet-a-Thon on Friday, March 22, 2013 starting at 8 AM. Several police agencies and services across the globe will be participating in this first ever event of its kind. Tweet-a-Thons or Tweet-The-Beat events create awareness of police work and call attention to relevant information in the policing and law enforcement world.
Entries confirmed in this 24 hour event are from Canada, United States, United Kingdom and Australia. The Tweet-A-Thon will start at 8 AM in each service’s own time zone, meaning the agency in Australia will kick off ahead of everyone else at 8 AM their time.
The hash tag for this event will be #poltwt. Each participating agency will have their own strategy for the Tweet-A-Thon. The Sarnia Police will be tweeting all calls for their service commencing at 8 AM on March 22 and will continue until about 2 AM on March 23. Each Agency, Office and/or Service participating will have their own strategies, whether it is tweeting about important policing issues, Service goals or the calls approach, which Sarnia will do.
